Cornwall – The G7 “fiesta”. Biden retraces the cold war and enforces it to a prone EU. A friend of mine: “Montjoie ! Saint Denis !”

The President “pacifist” starts his mandate in the name of contrasts. His motto is “against”. As worrying about the uncertain leadership of democracies in technological issues and the control of world trade, he relies on worn slogans of 80 years ago. Under the new. The latest gimmick: the New Atlantic Charter he signed along with Great Britain, with no care of the European Union. What does the EU do? It awaits orders. It ranks regardless of the matter even before orders come. So, “fiesta” has begun. And as long as binge lasts…

I start by saying I am a big Biden’s fan. I consider him my master. What does the quasi-octogenarian President teach? First of all, you must identify your enemy before your friends. The latter will come as a result because forced by bipolar option. Second, the world never changes, and there is no progress as the left-wing waffles worldwide. Therefore, it is better to adopt the successful 80-years-running formulas. I had believed in it since a young age when, unlike the rampant bourgeois youths of ’68, ideally supported the US in the anti-communist war of Vietnam and met, of course, the offences and violence from “pacifists” of all the world. Yes, they did have a democratic feeling with their heavy spanners in their hands.

The Berlin Wall fell, the Soviet Union collapsed, Communism became as useful as a lead balloon. Joe was 47, not exactly a green-aged man. Maybe he doesn’t remember it. What’s worse, all the Communist veterans and heirs today cheer Joe. Not only, but they give lessons of democracy and blame your anti-American behaviour. Anti-American to me? And Vietnam? How are things now? It’s water under the bridge. Who does remember it anymore? It is better to go back to 1941. That year the US, before entering the war, imposed the Atlantic Charter on “Western” attention, while at the same time, was preparing the conflict in support of the friendly USSR. Some years later, it rode the cold war against Moscow. That’s the magic word. Against. To be against someone is important. Great Joe. The future!

In Cornwall, friend Joe tries again. A bright idea! A New Atlantic Charter is what it takes. A strategic document of understanding. So, who does remember the improprieties towards the Turkish friend under the attack of a coup d’etat? Whom to sign the preliminary statement? Friend Boris [photo below] is always available, especially after Brexit. And Brussels? He’ll take care of it. An endorsement on Ireland is enough, and everything calms down. He bets with critics inside the Administration that Berlin, Paris, Rome and their followers won’t blink. There will be grumbles, of course. But who will thwart the undisputed leader and his assertiveness? He speaks in the name of democracy …

An assumption will resolve all. Everything from Moscow and Beijing is false by definition. Pure propaganda. But if the news or judgment (always definitive) comes from CIA, rating companies (all American), Wall Street (American), social networks (all American), information broadcasting (almost all American), the Fifth Avenue shopkeeper (as long as he is American and WASP), then, no one will be able to object. He would be subversive.

Here is Joe’s America. Other than Donald’s? Why should it be? Do you remember the teachings? Let’s identify the enemy before friends, and the world does not change.

The New Atlantic Charter mentions the “open societies” defence in the first point. Which ones, those imposing sanctions and walls with Mexico to build? On the second point, the “rules-based international order”. Which one, that of Jerusalem as Israel illegal capital, Jews West Bank settlements, the Golan Heights occupied by Tel Aviv and recognised as Israeli territory, India-annexed Kashmir? The third point refers to the “interference through disinformation or other malign influences.” Which disinformation, that concerning the multiple wars the US used to run under the “anti-terrorism” missions aegis? Again the third point claims a “lawful uses of the seas,” as stunning American military aircraft carriers ensuring an “international Western order” cross the seas of the entire world. The fourth point backs the use of technologies “to support democratic values,” confusing scientific entrusting (universal) with ethical-political principles (partial and often instrumental). The fifth point proposes that NATO “will remain a nuclear alliance” to contrast the nuclear danger. The sixth point even advocates “fight corruption and illicit finance.” Better to suspend judgment so as not to disturb Iraqis and Afghans dreams.

In short, noble principles to be signed. But Moscow and Beijing must not provide proof in all these fields. After all, according to Washington, they are not democracies, and we should all be engaged against them under the above principles. Except that you, dear Joe, and your Administration must give the proof, and this time, you are not the judge how you propose yourself by inflating your chest and calling for the cold war. The judge is the world, which looks at you, evaluates the facts, and directs the trial under “the rule of law”. The world asks for peace and mistrusts those who call for war, even those who do it in the name of democracy, as long as peace precede democracy in the hierarchy of priorities. I do not think the US governments over the last 104 years have agreed and behaved this way.

I close while the images from Cornwall scroll through. An Italian friend of mine, perhaps not very reliable, informs me that Accountant-style Italy delighted by the security in the England extreme western tip, where no one can easily get to dispute a mature democracy or set up subversive stuff like that. And, he says, someone already thinks that next October G20 summit would get better on some moon mountain rather than in Rome. At least there, we will be sure only the Americans can reach. And after all, they are enough. What do Moscow and Beijing have to do with it? Another friend of mine from France tells me that Macron would worry about the world situation. Not so much for Huawei’s bad practices, just because someone said something terrifying to him: “Montjoie ! Saint Denis !”
